Microchipping

Microchips are a reliable way of identifying your pet thus helping to reunite pets with owners should they become separted. The chip has a unique code that can be read by a special scanner. A national database keeps a record of this unique code together with details of your pet and contact details for yourself. The microchip is implanted under the skin of your pet using a special needle. It is a good idea to have your new puppy or kitten microchipped. We can also microchip older pets too.

There are two types of microchip available. Both types contain the unique number to identify your pet and one type also contains a sensor which measures your pets' body temperature. If your pet has a microchip with the temperature sensor we do not need to measure their rectal temperature. We are happy to discuss the types of microchip available and which type would be better for your pet.
